The last war between England and Scotland occurred when Scotland tried to invade England under the leadership of the pretender Charles Stuart. This thoroughly stupid adventure ended in predictable and brutal defeat at Culloden, yet is has become steeped in the same kind of half-brained romance that is at the root of this truly idiotic movie. After union with England was finally accepted, Scotland became far richer than at any point in it's previous history, leading to the Scottish enlightenment and a huge increase in the general standard of living. Good job the English don't hold grudges! Don't expect to see this explained in a Hollywood movie any time soon, or for Scots to concede that perhaps all blame in all things, doesn't necessarily attach to the English.
I dont need no legends...this movie IS legendary...for me...what you or others think i not care...i dont care for history...not mine, not yours...this movie make me cry, feel good, make me laugh...everytime i watch it...and its about 15 times now. And the soundtrack is very nice. i LOVE it...but its just a movie....
@HonestBloke Yes but Australia is made up of so many nationalities that getting more than 4 of them to agree on anything would be a miracle. We Scots are a nation, and have a national identity, that is the difference. As for being a tiny 'piss ant' (it's pissant actually) country, we Scots have given the world some of the most important inventions mankind has seen. Compare wiki for Scottish and Australian inventions, then tell me whose pissant!

The Caledonian Picts (Early Scots) fought against the Romans a few centuries before they fought against the English and resisted the Roman empire as one of the few if not only people who were not conquered by the Romans. "Celt" is a made up word from the 18th century, it's not a race.
